Welcome to Montana and a day with Daniel Boone

Remind me when it is hot and I want to go swimming in the river to cool off that this is what lurks in it's waters. I hate snakes and this pike looks a little snakish to me!! This bad boy is 28" long and weighed 5 lbs. Check out those teeth. They are really sharp too, just ask Alex(Daniel).

Daniel shot this "coon" with one shot out of one of our trees. It weighed 19 pounds!! 12 of that was from OUR dog food. Dang critters(I now get really annoyed with deer, birds, and little critters, they destroy everything!!). Daniel has also been hunting gophers and rock chucks. A local rancher has put a bounty on them. .50cents each. The other day they
made $ 22.00. This kid is total Montanan!! Ask us to tell you about the 22 gophers he shot and put in a 5 gallon bucket and then forgot to turn them in the next day to the rancher..... SOUP anyone? YUCKY!!!!! Just let your imagination run wild on that one and it still won't come close to the real thing. GAG!! Soup that moves. And the stench...WOW.

HUMANITARIAN

Wow it has been so long since we have posted I forgot how. I found this one saved as a draft and figured I should resurrect it. Mickayla mutual class made some hats for newborns and infants for a service project one night and she brought them home to show us. Tasha decided she wanted to join in hte fun so she and Mickayla made a bunch of hats one weekend. Then Alex wanted to join in and of course I didn't want to be left out soooo we have the 300 hats of Bartholomew Sorenson. Ok maybe not 300 but we made over 30 of the little buggers. I am sooo proud of my girls and their enthusiasm to serve.

Hooray for Alex!

He did it! He did it! Yeaaaa he did it!

Alex finally, after long hard work, received his Duty to God!
This award takes 6 years to earn! He received this back in March.

We are so proud of you! *sniff sniff*

Governor Intervenes

Dateline Stevensville, Montana. An appeal filed at the last minute by the activist organization PETA (people eating tasty animals) has resulted in a temporary stay of execution by Governor Schweitzer for convicted egghead I.G. Joe who was sentenced to death by firing squad by Judge Alex Sorenson on April 11, 2009. All avenues of appeal should be exhausted (we sure are) by Friday April 17, 2009.

Seriously we had technical difficulties resulting in an unexpected trip to Kalispell and back which lasted from 7 in the morning until 5:30 tonight. Sorry for the delay in egg assassinations.

Egg Coloring at the Sorenson's

At the Sorenson household we really "HUNT" our Easter eggs. We blast them with a .22 cal. rifle. It is the best way we have found to HUNT eggs.

Alex really got into coloring his "eggs" this year.

WARNING!

The following has been rated PG 13

for gore and the mention of violence.!!

The MAKING of I.G. JOE

We have I.G. Joe.

Named I.G. instead of G.I. from one of Bill Ingvall's comedy routines which our family thinks is funny.

Notice the camo helmet. Alex then decided I.G. Joe needed a girlfriend.

Now finding the right I.G. Jane was quite the task because each time right before she met I.G.Joe she kept getting killed in action (dropped on the floor or table). Finally one was found (made).

Just when I.G. Jane and I.G. Joe's eyes meet under heavy "shelling" (teehee), I.G. Jane is assassinated by a Sniper!!!

Joe runs to her side to save her but she has already given up the "yolk".

As blood runs down her dead face Jane ascends to that great breakfast plate in the sky. sniff, sniff, wipe nose

There was no before picture of Jane because the sniper got to her before the field photographer could snap some shots.

Notice exit wound.

Alas I.G. Jane could not fulfill I.G. Joe's desire for a combat ready "chick".

But as her egghead(body) was being lowered into the ground he saw his soul mate across the grave.

I.G. Josie.......

a match made on the battlefield of Bromley's egg plant.

Little do they know they are both in "Alex the Sniper's"

cross hairs only to be assassinated on Monday at high noon.

THE END
No Yolk, that is the end.
But tune in Tuesday for the R rated version of the assassination caught on tape.

No live chickens were killed in the making of this production
All egg artwork done by Alex Sorenson.

Just some more pics of coloring eggs. 8 dozen.

Kayla's candy corn.

I really rotated this before posting

(still computer illiterate)

Emo chick scared I.G. JOE .....no camo?

Fun was had by all and the eggs are awaiting their fate on Monday. TeeHee

Scouting- Alex receives his first palm

Alex was receiving his first palm after acheiving his Eagle. For those of you who aren't familiar with scouts to receive a palm you must complete 5 more merit badges AFTER earning your Eagle award. This is also another 1st. Neither Bryan or I are in scout uniforms. This is the first time at least one of us has not been in scouts. Bryan says he feels naked. Congrats to Alex. He will be receiving his 2nd palm the end of April. He should have had both by the end of last year but our troop is a little SLOOOOW.

BBQ ANYTIME!!!

I say BBQ anytime, rain or shine or even SNOW!!!

By the way the ribs were fantastic!!!

Ski Bunny or Skiing down the bunny hill

This is Mickayla and her instructor going down the bunny hill. This was Mickayla's first time skiing since she was about 5 or 6. After a few down times down the bunny hill she ditched the poles. I don't think I could ever ski without poles. I need my security blanket. She did a great job and it snowed all day so there was great snow to ski on.

It's time for a BEACH PARTY!!

Beach Party in the middle of this winter weather?
YOU BET!
You might need YOUR sunglasses to view this post and the bright white contents(our bodies haven't seen sun for a while) but I hope the pics will warm your heart and make you smile!!

Limbo Limbo Everybody Limbo

Beach (balloon) volleyball

The high dive competition

You can't forget to have a wet T-shirt contest at your beach party and we DID, but I won't post the pics because I don't think you bloggers could handle it. Instead you can view Mickayla and John
chillin' in the "shade".
Of course there is always a need for Popsicles at the beach to cool us off.
Check out the glow of Tiki torches that lined the sidewalk outside. One of them had a hole in the fuel container and it totally burned up so when we went outside we just found a stick. That was funny.

THE BEACHCOMBERS

So despite the yucky weather outside and your deep desire for spring and summer........have a BEACH PARTY indoors.
HAVE A BLAST!!! WE DID.

Prom/Tasha's first date

THE DRESS, THE HAIR, THE SHOES, THE MAKE-UP, OH MY!!!

What, the boys have a flower? Oh Brittany can come up and do my hair.
No wait Brittany has to stay in Utah. Strike 1.
But wait Sharilyn just called and is coming up with Erik she is a girly girl and knows all about hair, makeup, dress, shoes, etc. she can do my hair. eeeekk Sharilyn just called and can't come up. Strike 2.
Yikes now what. Can my mom really sew because my dress can't be strapless. Strike 3.
I'm doomed. That's right I'm on the decorating committee too, AND this is my first date. Oh the pressure.

Mom's Take on the situation.
Boy asked leaving a week and a half to do all those girl things.
Ok I can sorta sew so I made three different options and let Tasha choose her favorite. We borrowed shoes, bought the dress at the recycle store, learned how to do makeup from "you tube" by Lauren Luke (she is amazing, love her videos), had Tasha go to the florist to learn about boutonniere (wow big word had to use dictionary .com for that one) and order it, got Brittany on the web cam with Mickayla and Tasha for 2 hours doing hair, took a deep breath and poof a princess was ready for the ball. Now pass the bon-bons and remote I need a break.

Tasha's date was a WONDERFUL YOUNG MAN named Brandon.

The prince and princess at grand march.  Brandon was even voted Prom King.
                                                             What a wonderful evening.

We're expecting grandbaby # 5

Wahoo We now have 4 and 1/4 grandkids. WHo is expecting??? I've perked your curiosity now.
Should I tell now or have you all wait? I think you should go on a treasure hunt to find out.

The answer can be found on one of these two blogs.

Bryan wanted all the kids to make blogs so we would really confuse you and keep you all in suspense. Tee Hee. That would be a very funny prank.

TURKEYS!!

Alex is in heaven. If you want to know what heaven is like in Alex's world here is a snippet.

Alex has been working (not for pay just for fun) with the National Wild Turkey Federation.
They go set up turkey traps and catch wild turkeys where there is an over population and relocate them. He has been working with the local wildlife biologist here in the bitterroot. Alex is sooo wonderful that he was asked if he would like to participate in the next deer netting. ARE YOU KIDDING. HE would LOVE TO. Alex came home doing a happy dance.
This is HEAVEN, just ask Alex

Homeschool B-Ball

Mickayla has been playing on a homeschool basketball team for the last 2 years so I thought you might enjoy some pics for March madness.......starring Mickayla Sorenson(Blue shorts holding the ball).
GO RED TEAM.

Go KJ GO

Will she catch and shoot?

Blocking the pass.

The last game of the season the captain asked the girls to wear fun hair with red ribbons and paint their nails red. When they got there the girls also put on their "war paint" . We decided to all go and dress in red too. Britt's family was here and they joined in the fun.

Lulu got to sit on the bench with the girls.
What a lucky girl.
She loves chap stick and loves putting it on everyone whether you need it or not.
The night ended with a pizza party put on by our sponsors. It was all good clean fun, spent with people from all different religions, backgrounds, etc. no swearing or bad mouthing and great positive attitudes. This homeschool community is an awesome bunch of people!!
